I could speak about Modena in this photo, about how the cloudy sky finally exploded in color during the sunset. I could explain that it was the first time I made a blending of the sunset sky and the night lights of the city. I could tell you that I threw myself on the ground, so this gained prominence in the composition. That I used long exposures and the clone stamp to clean out the people in the square.

But behind this picture there is something else, something important that broke that day. And this photo was only the final blow, the ultimate culprit that the inevitable happened and finished one of those stories that seemed to be drawn from the pen of a great novelist. I thought not to post-process it first, and not publish it later. But many times what is left in the end are our passions, and in this story it had to be told that photography didn't lose the battle.

Podría hablar de Módena en esta foto, de como el cielo nublado al final explotó en color durante el atardecer. Podría explicar que fue la primera vez que realicé una mezcla del cielo del atardecer y las luces nocturnas de la ciudad. Podría contaros que me tiré en el suelo para que éste ganara protagonismo en la composición. Que utilicé largas exposiciones y el tampón de clonar para limpiar la plaza de gente.

Pero detrás de esta foto hay algo más, algo importante que se rompió ese día. Y esta foto fue solo el golpe final, la culpable definitiva de que lo inevitable ocurriera y explotara por los aires una de esas historias que parecían sacadas de la pluma de un gran novelista. Pensé en no editarla primero, y en no publicarla después. Pero muchas veces lo que queda al final son nuestras pasiones, y en esta historia había que contar que la fotografía no perdió la batalla.

The Ligurian coast is full of lovely fishing villages with colorful houses that seem to hang from the cliffs. Near the famous "Cinque Terre", in the known as "Golfo dei Poeti", is located the tiny but charming Tellaro.

When we arrived at the coast the sky was quite clear and the chances of having a great sunset seemed high. However, this time the situation worsened as the sunset approached, to the point where it was completely clouded and the sky was totally devoid of interest. We still had the blue hour, but a strong wind filled the air with sea water in suspension, which forced us to continually clean the lenses, at the same time the stability of the tripods was affected, the temperature dropped a lot and the waves seemed break closer and closer to us. Despite all these adverse conditions, we were able to get some quality photos, and were able to return home relatively satisfied.

La costa de la región de Liguria está llena de adorables pueblos de pescadores con casas de colores que parecen colgar de los acantilados. Cerca de las famosas "Cinque Terre", en el conocido como "Golfo dei Poeti", se encuentra la diminuta pero encantadora Tellaro.

Cuando llegamos a la costa el cielo estaba bastante despejado y las posibilidades de contar con un gran atardecer parecían altas. Sin embargo, esta vez la situación empeoró mientras se aproximaba la puesta de sol, hasta el punto que se nubló por completo y el cielo careció totalmente de interés. Quedaba todavía la hora azul, pero un fuerte viento llenó el aire de agua de mar en suspensión, lo que nos obligaba a limpiar continuamente las lentes, al mismo tiempo la estabilidad de los trípodes se veía afectada, la temperatura bajó muchísimo y las olas parecían romper cada vez más cerca de nosotros. A pesar de todas estas condiciones adversas, fuimos capaces de conseguir algunas fotos de calidad, y pudimos volver a casa relativamente satisfechos.
