In my portfolio of Tuscany could not miss what is perhaps the most famous grove of cypresses in the world. So many times photographed in all seasons and at all hours. From near or far, isolating it or with the surrounding landscape. This little hunters hideout is undoubtedly very photogenic.

I was lucky that my first visit to Val d'Orcia was in mid-June and the wheat was in all its splendor. So when I arrived here after a mountain bike route from San Quirico, it was clear that the wheat would be part of the composition. To get that I approached the wide angle lens to the first spikes that were at the edge of the road until I got the composition that I liked, including also the magnificent clouds that covered the sky. I waited several minutes for some rays of the sun to lighten the scene and I already had the photo I had been looking for on that occasion.

En mi colección de fotografías de la Toscana no podía faltar el que quizás es el bosquecillo de cipreses más famoso del mundo. Tantas veces fotografiado en todas las estaciones y a todas horas. De cerca o de lejos, aislándolo o junto al paisaje que lo rodea. Este pequeño escondite de cazadores es sin duda muy fotogénico.

Tuve la suerte de que mi primera visita al Val d´Orcia fuera a mediados de Junio y el trigo lucía en todo su esplendor. Así que cuando llegué aquí después de una ruta en mountain bike desde San Quirico, tenía claro que el trigo sería parte de la composición. Para ello acerqué el angular a las primeras espigas que había en el borde del camino hasta que conseguí la composición que más me gustaba, incluyendo también las magníficas nubes que cubrían el cielo. Esperé varios minutos a que algunos rayos del sol iluminaran ligeramente la escena y ya tenía la foto que en aquella ocasión venía buscando.

Touring the historic center of Siena is a journey into the past, as it has preserved most of its buildings from the medieval period, and those that have been built later have respected the architectural tradition of the previous ones. We are faced with a city that was once the great rival of neighboring Florence, to the point that it began the works of a cathedral that had to surpass in size to that of its enemy, but the soon decline of Siena left the temple without finishing forever.

Today from the remains of these works we can contemplate what is without a doubt the best view of the whole city. Going up here is part of the visit to the "Museo dell'Opera del Duomo", at the end of which you have to wait to go up here in small groups. This time it was my second visit and I knew that the time I had it was only a few minutes at the top, so to take the photo I had to move quickly to the narrow place from which it can be taken. If someone had occupied that space I would had lost the photo.

Recorrer el centro histórico de Siena supone un viaje al pasado, ya que ha conservado la mayor parte de sus edificios de época medieval, y aquellos que se han construido posteriormente han respetado la tradición arquitectónica de los anteriores. Estamos ante una ciudad que en su día fue la gran rival de la vecina Florencia, hasta el punto de que inició las obras de una catedral que debía superar en tamaño a la de su enemiga, pero el pronto declive de Siena dejó el templo sin terminar para siempre.

Hoy desde los restos de esas obras tenemos podemos contemplar la que es sin duda la mejor vista de toda la ciudad. Subir aquí es parte de la visita al "Museo dell´Opera del Duomo", al final de la cual hay que esperar para ir subiendo en grupos reducidos hasta aquí arriba. Esta vez era mi segunda visita y sabía que el tiempo que se tiene en la parte superior es de escasos minutos, por lo que para hacer la foto tuve que dirigirme con rapidez al estrecho lugar desde el que se puede realizar, ya que si alguien hubiera ocupado el espacio me habría quedado sin la foto.
